Sunday May Bank Holiday

Sunday saw a visit to Fort Nelson - Great displays and free if you happen to be near there.

Tilly had the Nursery bear for the weekend and introduced him to all sorts of weaponry.

First May Bank Holiday 2009

Saturday of the Bank hol saw a select group of the PTA take the ferry from Gosport to Portsmouth Navel yard to see the Mary Rose / Warrior / Victory.

We learnt about flexible rammers and mops that could be used at close quarters.

Batalla de Almansa (Albacete, Spain) 1707 (recreacion historica 2009)

And partake of the local delicacies.

Still it meant that they got to see some bits that the might not have seen otherwise.

Then it was to Madrid that the intrepid explorers went next, this was to be one mountain to many for the 6 cylinder, which promptly ate its clutch on the way, so back to Almansa it was to be.

Battle duly commenced, both guns made their presence felt.

In April 2009 Arnie and intrepid crew set off for Spain with Colnel Holcroft Bloods to reenact the Battle of Almansa.
All went well on the trip over and both Babel and Arnie arrived with out mishap.

Easter at Clyst Hydon

Over the winter one of the oak treas in a neighbouring field came down, a nice straight log;
we have been given permission to use some of the wood if it is of any use to us.
at Easter a small and intrepid band set out with the two handed saw to section a length that we would like to get planked for a future project.
all went well the next stage will be to remove the log to the saw mill.

Every one had a chance to have a go.
